25th Anniversary
A silver theme ran through the event to celebrate the Museum’s 25 years from the invitation to the amazing silver coins from the Rooswijk donated by Rex Cowan retired lawyer, diver and great supporter of the Museum.
The evening was opened by Jacqueline Stanford Chairman of Trustees thanking all those who have helped the Museum over the years and, in particular, Dr. Peter Marsden who founded the Museum in 1986 after the damage to the Amsterdam shipwreck at Bulverhythe by contractors working on the beach. Peter was the London Museum’s loss when he set sail for Hastings and worked with the Borough Council to set up this extradordinary Museum. Trustees past and present were there to celebrate and hear Peter talk of his amazing journey with the Museum and the plans for the future with the Education Wing project.
Local MP Amber Rudd took time our of her busy schedule to show her support for the Museum and present Peter with an engraved compass in recognition of his achievement with the Museum.
